During the Age of Discovery, European powers raced to map the globe and control its wealth. Bartolomeu Dias first rounded the southern tip of Africa in 1488, proving a sea route to Asia existed, before Vasco da Gama completed the full voyage to India. Armed with dead reckoning and the astrolabe, Portuguese sailors navigated far beyond sight of land aboard caravel ships. Their success dismantled the Ottoman Empire's grip on overland routes, handing Portugal a monopoly over the spice trade.

Security & Trust

Your API key is yours.

Gutter uses a bring-your-own-key model. You connect your own Gemini API key — we never have access to your account or quota. Here is exactly what happens to your key.

Encryption at rest
Your API key is encrypted with AES-256-GCM before being written to the database. The raw key never touches storage.
